What’s the story behind your name?
My real name is Maxine Dury so Max Fury was just fitting.
When did you join derby and why?
Winter 2014. Now that my two daughters were no longer babies I had some new freedom and time on my hands. I absolutely love being a mom but I needed a physical outlet all to myself. I wanted to get back in shape and meet cool and interesting people. DERBY came into my life and it changed everything. I put my new roller skates on at fresh meat and I was hooked immediately.
What’s your derby goal or dream?
This was a big year for me, started training some amazing young people. Hogtown Roller Derby has a junior team. I’ve been enjoying my new role as coach.
What’s your most memorable derby moment?
I have so many now. Every game and travelling with my team mates have brought noting but positive memories and experiences. I can’t write just about one.
Why do you keep playing?
BECAUSE IT’s an AMAZING SPORT. I’m having so much fun, I’m in the best shape of my life and it keeps getting better.
