The GTA Rollergirls have changed our name to Hogtown Roller Derby!
Our name is the first of many changes you’ll see from us in the 2018 season. We are undergoing changes both organizationally and with our branding. You’ll hear more about those later, but for now, let’s focus on the name! We have chosen to make a name change in an effort to represent our community better. The name Hogtown comes from the historical nickname for the city we call home, Toronto. Additionally, we selected this name to do a better job of representing our members and our sport.
We believe Hogtown Roller Derby is a name inclusive of all our members; skaters, officials and our dedicated volunteers. Hogtown Roller Derby is a family before a league, and we want to keep working on creating a space where everyone feels welcomed, heard and included. We are so excited for what the future holds, and to continue to grow our derby family.
